About Candace
Candace Houston is a native of Mobile, Alabama. She entered the world of media in 1990 as a receptionist and worked her way up to advertising sales executive and then sales management. In 2009, she founded Nspire U! Events, Entertainment, and Marketing Firm on a part-time basis, launching it full-time in 2017. She and her team plan and manage music festivals, sporting events, expos, business functions, and conferences, and provide marketing, PR, and media services for businesses.
In February 2021, she and her daughter launched Nspire U! On Air — the first African American female-owned internet radio station on the Gulf Coast. In January 2025, they added Nspire U Praise, a 24/7 Gospel station.
In May 2025, she launched Women R!, a nonprofit organization with a mission to empower women and young girls through education, advocacy, and opportunity. Women R! works to eliminate healthcare disparities, amplify diverse voices in media, and provide financial literacy programs that enable women to take control of their future.

Candace has a heart for the community and dedicates her platforms to helping uplift and build it. In 2023, she was awarded the Key to the City of Mobile for her efforts and for the impact her business has had on local communities.
